It is mainly about the ritualistic uses, history, mythology and effects of the various sacred plants, as well as brief descriptions of the chemistry of their active ingredients. It also includes a plant lexicon, and overviews of plant usage, including uses of hallucinogens in medicine. It has many illustrations.
